Solid NVMe Performance
Samsung NVMe SSD 980 delivers up to 3,500 MB/s and 3,000 MB/s for sequential read and write respectively.1) The performance of 980 is remarkable since this provides outstanding NVMe performance of PCIe 3.0 with DRAMless architecture. Thanks to the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) feature, and upgraded Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0, users can experience the supreme performance for even longer time than the predecessor 970 EVO.

Proven Reliability
The 980 boasts proven endurance with up to 600 terabytes1) 2) written. Advanced thermal control solutions enhance performance with reduced heat risk. Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) technology proactively minimizes overheating, and a heat spreader with an integrated thin copper film dissipates heat more efficiently. A nickel coating on the controller also helps to dissipate heat faster during heavy workload use in order to ensure the high levels of quality and reliability for which Samsung is known.

Enhanced Software with Full Power Mode support
With the update of Magician 6.3 in March, 980 will support the new feature called Full Power Mode. With this new feature, 980 runs at the peak level for nonstop, consistent high performance. Additionally, 980 features Samsung Data Migration Software, which helps users to move their data easily.

A no-brainer!
Put one of these little guys in my first full ATX build and oh my goodness. So easy. So fast. No messy SATA cables to wrangle. It even comes with a data transfer tool if you want to copy it all over from another drive.

I have a kingston m2, my youngest has a oem ssd, but my eldest son was on an old 7200rpm 1tb hdd for booting. Well no more. From minutes to true boot to just a matter of seconds, you can't really go wrong. I also used the samsung monitoring and cloning software which you can get for free. It worked well. The old clunker had about 700 something GB, which i needed to safely clone due to mods and apps galore, so a fresh install was out of the question.N Now samsung migration tool is supposed to change drives and wipe the old drive etc etc, it didn't do that so i had to change boot order in bios and manually delete the old drive, apparently...view more

All good, just works. It is installed in Lenovo Thinkpad e14 gen2, as a second, additional SSD. Linux boots up and works wonderful on it, if any.

-may have some extra write/read protection, I had to do some troubleshooting when cloning my old data to this one. I got a windows blue screen of death error telling me boot drive was inaccessible. I did eventually managed to get it working but after typing some various commands.
