For the amount of storage you get this price is a banger. Got 4 of these for the Synology 920+ nas server and it does a great job backing up everything from photos on my phone to files on my PC. Bought 2 of these harddrives to start Off my own Home server. As a filmmaker, I needed some security, regarding the backing Up of my Files. I implemented them into an Unraid Environment, which works very well.
Delivery took about a week, Installing-process took me about 30 Minutes.
I know this probably isnt the cheapest Option (barracuda seems cheaper), but after Reading a bunch of Reviews and having Spoken to people With some experience With Servers, the REDs seem like a very solid option. - The original purchase went okay, prompt delivery.
- The 8Tb disk failed when put into a Nastor device.
- A techie friend said it might have to be specially formatted because it was a large, 8Tb storage,
- I bought a cable and tried it in another PC, still failed. Just not seen by the PC, nor by the Nastor.
- So I conferred with a local PC shop, ModernPC, where there is a very smart techie friend. But he said it was defective, I should return it.
- There was quite a rigmarole reporting it for a replacement, but eventually that arrived.
