Xiaomi Smart Scale S400 Body Composition Scale

I bought these Smart Scales to replace our old bathroom scales. I wanted something pretty basic and functional, but when I saw these scales they seemed to offer very good value for extra functionality.
I've found them easy to use and operate, the app is easy to use and it's all fairly intuitive. It's very easy to track your weight, and the other metrics. It also stores your data until you're ready to grab it, so you don't have to have your phone with you when you weigh yourself.
We've only had it for a couple of months, but no problems so far, and I'd definitely recommend it as a good value and functional purchase. We've only had it for a couple of months, but no problems so far, and I'd definitely recommend it as a good value and functional purchase. Bonus that it takes 3x AAA batteries, so rechargeables are an option to use (no idea on battery life yet, no issues so far).

The scales are a bit tricky to set up with the phone but I got there in the end. (Maybe younger people can do it easily but I am a retiree). I input my height at 180cm and it suggests my ideal weight is 71kg. That seems way too light. The scales are a bit tricky to set up with the phone but I got there in the end. Great scale! Does exactly what it promises. The app is easy to use and it's motivating to see more data than just weight. The measurements seem consistent, which is what matters most for tracking progress. Setup was a breeze. Great scale! Does exactly what it promises. I had trouble connecting the Bluetooth! It turned out that you must turn off the Bluetooth on your phone, and only connect using the apps Bluetooth. Then it connected without issue. So
First turn off your phones Bluetooth. Then:
1. Open Mi Home / Xiaomi Home App
2. Tap + Add Device
3. Step on the scale with one foot to wake it
4. Wait for the Bluetooth icon to flash
5. The Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app should now detect the S400 scales Bluetooth.

After this I got it all setup and running. WOW the internal information it gives you about what's happening in your body is priceless!

After measuring my weight, if I lifted the scale while the reading was still displayed, the next time I used it, it wouldn’t always reset to 0.0 kg and would sometimes show 0.x kg instead.

However, I figured out an easy fix, just wait for the scale to fully turn off by itself before lifting it up and putting it away. After doing this, it resets correctly to 0.0 kg the next time.
Overall, it’s still a solid and reliable smart scale with great app integration and useful features. I’d definitely recommend it.
