Features

In short, 204-pin small outline dual inline memory modules (SODIMMs) are the form factor used to provide DDR3 memory modules for notebook computers and other small form factor computing platforms.
To use DDR3 memory, your system must have both a 204-pin SODIMM slot and a chipset that supports DDR3 memory. A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets.

SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 204-pin SODIMM PCBs are always ~2.6 inches long and are usually around 1.18 inches high (though the heights can vary slightly). They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The number of memory components on a 204-pin SODIMM's printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 102 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 204 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket.

Ideal for upgrading older laptops.

I used this to upgrade an older Dell laptop with only single channel RAM slot. This is ideal for the job as it supports operation at both 1.35V and 1.5V. ie DDR3L and DDR

A great upgrade for an old toshiba satellite

excellent value ram. Our old toshiba satellite was bogged down with a mechanical HDD and 4GB ram. Samsung evo 500 took care of the boot times and the 8GB works excellent with the single ram slot the laptop provides. Laptop now feels completely different. Snappy boot times and runs normal work loads without a sweat. Had issues trying to use 10800 ram on the laptop. Wouldn't boot(was not compatible) . This 12800 runs smoothly.

Crucial 8GB LAPTOP DDR3 1600Mhz SODIMM

The purchase, helped to lift the systems overall performance. Thank you guys.
However living out of town and lacking a Philips screw driver, asked tech support to open the laptop case to change out Ram so as to confirm sticks worked before leaving retailer, this cost nearly as much as the 1x ram. Moral of the story bring your own screw driver if you want to test compatibility, there's no free lunch. Ha, ha...
