LG 27UP850N-W 27" 4K UHD Business Monitor

Upgraded from a non-4k screen to this. Usb-c makes connecting to a Mac super easy, and screen quality is excellent. Highly recommended as a great option for design work at this price. It’s a good looking panel. The connectivity is great too, with a single cable to plug into my laptop to charge, display and connect to anything plugged into the back of the screen. The power brick is huge, and the back of the screen is, surprisingly, a weird white plastic as opposed to black. Stand is good and minor adjustments are easy, although it’s ugly and there’s a slight wobble if you’re an aggressive typer.

It’s not too smart about switching between inputs, and changing the volume of the, admittedly bad, internal speakers is a huge hassle with the little joystick controls. I got this monitor about a month ago to use with my M1 macbook air and it's serving my needs really well. About a quarter the price of an Apple Studio Display but serving a very similar purpose - sharp details, really good colour representation and a 27" size which is ideal for me when working in Photoshop. Sure it's 4K rather than 5K and it's not made of perfectly shaped aluminium but it's doing well at the essential job of giving me much more screen real estate. The supplied USB-C cable charges my macbook no problem and I'm finding the joystick controller easy to use on the odd occasion I even have to touch it. Can't fault this screen – the resolution and contrast are excellent. Colours are better than my more expensive monitor I have at work.

Been using this monitor for the last couple of weeks and running my 2019 16" MacBook Pro through this monitor is a dream with 96W of power delivery it helps keeps the desk clean.

The colours are accurate and vibrant and haven't needed to calibrate (although any monitor can benefit from calibration) and is plenty responsive for uni work, photo and video editing and the occasional console gaming.

While it's nice having inbuilt speakers definitely lacking in the bass department and have been just using either my MacBook's speakers or my UE Boom.

Only thing I really needed was a Thunderbolt cable to connect to my 2020 MacBook Pro. You can still use HDMI but the Thunderbolt cable can recharge the laptop as well as provide video input. I bought this monitor to run off my MacBook Pro. It is very sharp, displays excellent colour and having the USB-C means only one connection to the Mac for video, sound and charging, as well as providing additional USB connections. The only issue I had was LG didn't provide a USB-C cable in the box and when I used a USB-C cable from an existing Philips USB-C monitor, it didn't display video. I had to source another (more expensive) cable b ut now it works fine. I called LG support when I was having trouble and they called me back about 3 days later but by that time I had sorted the problem. I bought this monitor to run off my MacBook Pro. I have it set in the centre of my treble screen setup, running from a tower, the only thing i had to do was change the scale to 200%.
Just love how crisp & clear this screen is. I also use it with a Surface pro7+ through the supplied usb-C cable as a plus I now keep the SP7+ charged with usb-C as well.++
I have had no issues with setting up, but as I have only had this monitor in my setup a short time I guess time will tell.
