My friend's computer had intermittent internet communication failures. My IT savvy daughter suggested this specific adaptor as a workaround after several of her families' same-brand laptop wired internet failures. Perfect. Plug and play, no driver install on Windows. I purchased this adapter a couple of years ago and have never had a problem. I have used it on 2 different computers and at a range of 10 meters.

Returned this because the gain was too weak. Couldn't connect to my wireless access point even though it's just in the adjacent room. I bought the adapter as I bought a second hand computer with no network card. The adapter works really well. It was quite tricky to set-up for Linux and involved a lot of googling.
