I'd say its good for the price. However, it does produce a bit of smoke especially for the first 5-15 prints which according to the Brother support technicians I contacted, is totally normal and is a result of the high humidity here in NZ causing the papers to hold water. I returned this printer once cuz I thought it was broken and the components were faulty... sorry pbtech I'd say its good for the price. I was looking for a black and white laser printer to save cost on printing. I also needed one that was compatible with linux and my Android phone,and being plug and play, it was a breeze to set up. Took a while to setup and connect to my WiFi. Failed to connect a few times. It finally connected after downloading the full software from the Brother website. Perhaps its not the printer problem but WiFi signal issues at my location or my router/laptop. Took a while to setup and connect to my WiFi. Failed to connect a few times. Wanted a printer that coped with not being used resulting in dried up ink. Wanted a simple black and white printer - perfect. Wanted a smaller footprint in my office set up - this little printer is perfect for that too. Prints fast. So happy with this product. I bought this for uni work and it’s been a lifesaver. It’s small enough to fit on a crowded desk and the print quality for essays is super sharp. Setup with my phone was easy, and it prints way faster than my old inkjet. It doesn’t do double-sided automatically, but for the price and reliability, you can't really beat it.
