Brother HLL-3240CDW Colour Laser Printer

I bought this printer to print hi-res full page topographic maps. It would refuse to print them. I have countless pages with "PCL XL Error, RASTER/IMAGE, Insufficient Memory" printed on them. This is on Windows. On Linux everything was fine. I spent a few days together with Brother tech-support on this problem and in the end this is the advice: if you want to print hi-res coloured pages and get the PCL XL Error, use the Brother BR-Script driver, available for download on Brother's website. Other than these driver-issues the printer is awesome, great quality prints and lots of protocols are supported, also USB/Wireless/Wired interfaces are supported.

Arrived very quickly. Only thing is to read the toner assembly closely. After a call to the help center (on the third time) found out the green levers were on the wrong side. Overall a great product. I asked for multiple things, and what device was still in my budget is what I have chosen. I believed it is able to scan too, because the seller told me it is able. In the end, it was not too expensive, and I can use my phone toy scan somewhat, but it would have been better, If I knew its not possible, and would have bought a different one. The printer was easy to install - the only surprise was needing a temporary USB connection before it become a stand-alone network printer. Installed for both Mac and Windows no problems. Love the double sided printing and the colour works well. Not as vibrant as a photo print but very good and useable for plain paper. Very happy with our purchase. Only possible negative is a quite bright green light even when in sleep mode. I got this for printing menus and kids colour filling prints. I guess this printer is going to last forever. Very easy to set up. Download the app and turn on the printer, it will guide you through to connect with your wifi.

Please be aware, it doesn’t come with a cable to connect with your computer. Wifi is must.
