Perfect mini PoE switch
Works awesome with my PoE wifi extenders
Failed to power up a Cisco 2802i AP
The description is the product is PoE+ capable and has a budget of 30W to each port, but it failed to negotiate with the Cisco AP and can't power up the radio. Tried with another similar product from TP-Link and works fine.
Might be suitable for a CCTV system, but not a proper WIFI system.
Mercusys MS108P 8-port Gbit Desktop Switch w/7-port PoE+
This is a suitable little PoE switch if you don't mind not having control of whether PoE is enabled on ports or not. I asked when purchasing it, if this was a managed switch and was told, "Yes". But it's not. So if you plug a PoE-capable device into one of its PoE ports BUT want to run that device on its own power pack, you cannot turn off the switch's PoE. So it will sit there and try to negotiate with the device - on & off, on & off - dropping packets. Plugging said PoE-capable device into port 8 instead (no PoE on port 8) works fine.
So as long as you're happy with PoE being enabled ALL THE TIME on ports 1-7, everything seems fine....view more
