-The recording quality is lowered a bit as the signal passes through the capture card. This is a bit sad, so I might consider getting a component to HDMI adapter, and an HDMI capture card, in the future if I feel like recording/streaming a better picture quality.

I've tried several USB capture cards before, and this is by far the best.

There are cheaper "Easycap" branded knockoffs available, but the video quality I get out of this blows those out of the water, especially with an unstable signal like what you get with a VHS tape.

I purchased this product in the hope of saving many old family videos. With in a couple of days I had successfully swapped some of my videos to digital and saved on usb drive and my hard drive. Will carry on doing the rest. The whole system was easy to use and came with easy instructions. One of the best products I have bought. The associated software is a bit clunky and slow but overall the thing captures analog sources well enough and preserves the charming visual artifacts that come with mediums like VHS. Worked perfectly to archive videos. Thought it might need to be plugged into a USB 2 port to work properly as per some reviews on the internet but actually worked fine plugged in to USB 3.
