1. First Impressions

The first thing that stands out is the build quality. It feels extremely solid and premium. Coming from a Galaxy Watch 4, the Ultra is definitely bigger than I expected, but not in a bad way. It has a strong presence on the wrist and the design looks fantastic.

The overall style is excellent — rugged but still refined.

The only thing that didn’t immediately impress me was the strap, which I’ll get to shortly.

2. Design & Build

Aside from the strap issue, the watch itself feels top-tier. The casing, buttons, and screen all feel extremely well made and premium.

My main complaint is the default strap design. It angles downward from the watch body which causes a practical issue: when placed on a charger puck or flat charging pad, the strap lifts the watch body slightly off the surface. Because of this I’ve had issues charging it on my desk.

Even after buying a charging pad, the strap still causes the watch to sit slightly raised. I’ll likely replace the strap later with something that sits flatter.

Outside of that, the watch looks fantastic and feels like a true flagship device.

3. Daily Use

I’ve only had the watch a few days, but it’s already clear that it provides far more feedback and data than my old Watch 4.

Now, strictly speaking, we probably don’t need that much information — but as a semi-competitive cyclist and general nerd who loves stats, it’s fantastic. The watch gives you a huge amount of information about your activity and health metrics.

If you enjoy data and performance insights, this thing is a goldmine.

4. Best Features

So far the standout upgrades are:

Improved GPS accuracy compared with the Watch 4

Extra health metrics

AGE tracking

ECG functionality

The additional metrics make it feel much more like a serious training tool, not just a smartwatch with fitness features bolted on.

5. Annoyances

Right now the only real annoyance is the strap.

It’s not uncomfortable — it’s just not practical for charging due to the angle it holds the watch at when off the wrist.

This is easily fixable with an aftermarket strap, but it’s surprising for such a premium device.

6. Battery & Performance

I haven’t run the battery flat yet, and it’s already been on my wrist longer than my old Watch 4 typically lasted.

I also changed the setting so the screen only activates when I raise my wrist, which should extend battery life even further.

Performance-wise it feels noticeably smoother than the Watch 4. The small micro-lags that occasionally appeared on the older watch are gone, which is likely due to both newer hardware and the age of the Watch 4 platform.

7. Would I Buy It Again?

Absolutely.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is a fantastic premium smartwatch. It offers a huge amount of health and activity data, excellent build quality, and noticeably improved performance over older Samsung watches.

It’s ideal for anyone who wants a high-end smartwatch with every feature you could reasonably want — and several you didn’t even know existed.

For cyclists and runners, it’s an excellent training companion. While a dedicated fitness watch like a Garmin might still edge it out for ultra-serious endurance athletes, the Galaxy Watch Ultra strikes a near-perfect balance between fitness tracking, smart features, and everyday usability.

The many and varied watch face options mean that you will always have the right face for your needs. The range of functions and ease of their use is simply amazing as well.

The battery life so far has been nothing short of astonishing. Despite having to do several software updates from 100% and one full day's use, the watch has only consumed 57% of charge (at time of writing) - note that this is with Power Saving enabled - and looks likely to last another full two days.

Cons so far - it really needs the rotating bezel that the Watch Classic models have. Bixby, the Samsung virtual assistant app, can be annoying to deal with on a watch - and even more annoying to try and disable.

Bought the watch on Black Friday special - with it being only slightly more expensive than the newly released Watch8 and Watch8 Classic. I would definitely recommend this version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra over all other Samsung watches.

I have been using Galaxy Watches for a few years. This is without doubt the best of all. I was worried about the size and fit, as I have a slim wrist. No worries at all, the watch fits comfortably. Watch copes really well with multitasking (playing music, running Samsung Health while exercising, etc.) without slowing. I have it running with an e-SIM from 2 degrees, which allows me to make calls and receive messages without my phone. The installation of the e-SIM was very easy and it works great.

This is a great watch. Price was pretty good too.
I'm in too minds if I prefer touch screen or button control only smartwatch. Time will tell. Either way I good product. Looks very nice .

Got this watch in the friday sale, exceeded my expectations after having previous models. The titanium finish looks great and the ease of band change is perfect.
