Cruxtec provides misleading specs for MACs. They do not support extending on multiple displays. The adapter will only extend to a second screen, if you hook up a third screen. It will mirror the second screen. See images attached and note the difference between Microsoft.

We have used very expensive port replicators of the same brand name as our laptops, but these have proved to be unreliable and not consistent in performance. I have a 2k monitor and a lower resolution monitor.
I can plug each monitor into the splitter and use it to extend my laptop screen onto the monitors.

I got this dock to connect a newly purchased monitor to my work setup and it worked like magic. I am using it with MS Surface, which has caused me no issues so far.
