I had an expensive "high end" cable that failed after about 12 months use. Having already purchased a number of expensive cables, who all claimed to be Ultra High Speed and weren't, I was a bit sceptical but this cable did everything it claimed on the box, delivering a fully compliant 4k HDR signal between my Series X Xbox to my 4k TV. It's an okay cable if you are just running 1080p at 60hz. But at 4k, it could not handle 120hz and HDR.

On paper it should, and you'll pull your hair out wondering what's wrong with your setup, but its the cable. Spend the extra $ and get the optical one which works. Bought to connect a PC with a 3070ti graphics card (using the HDMI 2.1 port) to a Sony KD-65X85L 4k HDR QLED TV using HDMI 3 and 4 (the HDMI 2.1 ports). Using Windows to play games such as ACC works reliably at 4k120hz only at YCbCr 4:2:0 (i.e. SDR) color output. Using Nvidia control panel, when the PC is set to RGB output (10 bit but also 8bit plus dithering), the output will change to the new setting (and the colors look great) but within a matter of seconds or minutes the screen glitches will start. Running 4k120hz YCbCr 4:2:0 8bit seemingly it never glitches. 4k120hz YCbCr 4:2:0 10bit will glitch eventually.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if the TV or GPU didn't support 4k120hz RGB 10-bit color it seems that it wouldn't work at all. The other thing that points to the cable is that depending on what the screen is showing the glitches are more or less likely. Most glitches the screen goes black for a couple seconds then comes back on, sometimes there are color artifacts before the screen goes black. Sometimes the glitches go back to back and the TV will reset. Seems like a cable bandwidth issue to me.

Apologies to PB Tech if the cable isn't my issue :) But I plan to return it and try a different cable.

These cables are of an excellent build-quality, and thankfully a lot easier to come by than they were just 1-year ago. I've bought several now of varying sizes, and every time they've delivered.

If you're less tech-savvy, the quality of an HDMI cable *does* matter - especially on higher-end AV equipment, and often those included 'free' with your tech just barely meet the spec, or are more likely to have manufacturing defects. Because of this, it's good practice to give the included cable a go, but be prepared to buy a higher-quality one if issues arise. Great cables, lives up to it's claims, getting over 100fps over the full distance twice over (120 fps 1440p to hdmi switch and into a 2nd one back to capture), perfect for the setup I use them in, no complaints at all!
