Kingston SXS1000 2TB USB-C Portable SSD

I purchased this specifically for use as a boot drive / startup disk for an iMac. Unfortunately there is something about this SSD that prevents it being detected as a startup disk. I contacted Kingston support, but they basically said too bad. Annoyed because I’ve had to spend $$$ on a different SSD, and don’t really have a use for this Kingston one.

I have had no issues with this product, it meets all expectations and can be used for a variety of storage needs, games, videos, images etc without any noticeable performance issues. Would recommend for specific use of video games as there are cheaper options available for videos and images. I purchased the storage device in November 2024, but it stopped working by March 2025. I only used it to back up some files, yet all my files were lost.

Even though the tech support representative informed me that the warranty period would last 5 years (see included picture), this experience has left me dissatisfied.

But PB tech staff done a quick check and inform me that they will replace the products . ( good customer service though )

Where once a drive over 1TB was only available as a HDD, the new range of portable SSD formats makes file storage a breeze. I have a large collection of old music files and photos that needs fast access. The Kingston SXS1000 has proven to be a superb solution. Great product at a great price. The Kingston is a great value/high performance piece that will probably out-last my desktop.
