It’s fairly quiet, even sitting in a lounge environment. It doesn’t interfere with anything and is easy to forget it’s even there — which is ideal for a home lab setup that lives in a shared space.

On a 2.5GbE setup, the NAS fully saturates the connection using 3 drives in RAID 5, which tells you the drives have plenty of headroom.

Looking ahead:

With my planned 10GbE upgrade, performance differences may become more noticeable
Expanding to 8 drives in RAID 6 will likely push throughput high enough to still saturate 10GbE in many workloads

In short: these drives are not the bottleneck.
