HP Poly Voyager Legend 50 Bluetooth In-Ear Mono Headset

Having used the Plantronics Legend & it’s upgrades for the past decade I expected the Legend 50 to be “better in every way” than the outgoing 5200. This is simply not the case in nearly all respects. .

Problems i’ve discovered
1. Battery life is overpromised - not clearly better. Previous audible battery life warnings in hrs/mins are no longer present.
2. Noise cancellation & mic performance — The AI features make voices sound metallic, less natural & distant compared with the previous model.

3. Wireless range - it’s a little better and more stable when away from your device but without the audible caller-ID & lagging in voice commands, what’s the point?
4. Software / firmware - the 5200 could suffer from mic drop & “muffled” voice when the battery is low. My biggest gripe though for everyday use is the Legend 50 lacks the benefit of caller ID, voice command responsiveness, toggle/mute behavior, etc
5. Price vs “feel” of upgrade -The Legend 50 is priced at a premium, but the difference from the 5200 is incremental rather than transformative. The new charging case, wireless charging, more modern Bluetooth, etc. are nice, BUT if your 5200 is working, my opinion is don’t upgrade it’s not worth swapping to the newer model.
Final thoughts: The user friendly day to day features I loved and relied on are no longer available mean this is not a worthy replacement. If HP don’t update the firmware/software to facilitate this then they have ruined what was a class leading product.

Great headset for work!! Just bought it on Friday and it’s making life at work way easier, especially being on the go. The only con is it did not come with a case so when it’s not in use I have to put it in the box that it came in Great headset for work!! This headset is great with excellent sound quality, especially its noise reduction feature really kills the background noise when I am making conference calls on the road. The battery life also extended to a double, compared to my old 5200 model.
