The Tamiya 1/24 Renault 5 Turbo is a detailed plastic model kit that revives a classic rally icon. This model is a limited-edition reissue with updated decals and an improved instruction manual, making it a great collectible for enthusiasts and modelers alike.

The full-size Renault 5 Turbo debuted in 1980 as a rally variant of the standard Renault 5. Unlike the original compact hatchback, the Turbo was heavily modified for motorsports. Engineers placed a 1.4-liter inline-four turbocharged engine in the rear of the vehicle, replacing the back seats. This setup provided better weight distribution and power for rally conditions, producing around 160 horsepower.

To improve performance, the car's body used lightweight materials like aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP). The Renault 5 Turbo stood out visually with its wide fenders, aggressive stance, and luxurious interior for a rally machine. Its unique combination of performance and style gained a cult following in motorsport and automotive circles.

Tamiya's kit faithfully reproduces the distinctive shape and features of the Renault 5 Turbo. The model includes a driver figure, realistic rubber tires, and detailed components such as the chassis underside, suspension, and interior. Modelers can choose between two color options-red or black-with dedicated decals for each.

Originally sold as a motorized kit under Item 24024, this reissued version does not include a motor. Instead, it focuses on realistic detail and ease of assembly. This release is especially timely, given the real Renault 5's return in 2024 as a fully electric model.

To exchange a product, goods must be sealed / unopened, with packaging in original condition, and accompanied by a valid receipt dated no more than 7 calendar days from when you request an exchange.

If there is not a suitable product that can be exchanged for your returned item you will be offered a credit on your account or gift card based on the value paid at the time of purchase.
