About the First Gulf War
In August 1990, Iraq invaded its neighbor Kuwait. In January of the following year, Coalition Forces led by the United States began a bombing campaign against Iraq, which led to a ground offensive. Iraqi military forces fled Kuwait in February and on March 3 a cease fire was agreed which ended the conflict.
About the Uniforms
In the early 1980s, the U.S. military was equipped with BDU camouflaged field uniforms. Among these was the DBDU (Desert Battle Dress Uniform) which featured a camouflage pattern of black and white flecks that was nicknamed "chocolate chip" due to its having a similar appearance to chocolate chip cookies.
