I bought this so I could have one cable that will allow me to use my laptop as a desktop when I'm home. And it works pretty well for it, I currently use it with: 2x 1080p monitors, speakers, microphone, mouse and keyboard. And it works well apart from this one issue: there's often tiny hiccups when I'm not using my laptop intensely, like it'll take a second for the mouse to move every so often. But when I'm working or gaming, this doesn't happen, could be an issue with my laptop, it's hard to know. Either way, I'm satisied with it. I bought this so I could have one cable that will allow me to use my laptop as a desktop when I'm home. Perfect for the home office (and personal use). Allowed me to connect a Surface Pro for work and a very old PC. Both work well with two monitors. Also very easy to set up. It makes for an excellent device to add Display Link(ing) technology to add 1 or 2 extra displays/monitors to a computer, particularly a laptop/notebook and has ethernet functionality. Plus, it has plenty of USB 3.0 slots and can run off a USB 3.0 Slot on the Host.

Yes, it works for a DUAL SCREEN dock for the Apple M1 unit due to the DisplayLink technology inside. Any dock without this DL technology is unlikely to work with an M1. I got that information directly from the StarTech customer services team.
But no, it doesn't deliver power as an 'all in one solution'. So really good, but not great for the lack of power delivery.
