Low profile. Helps maintain consistent mouse tracking. DPI can suffer and cursor can skip on surfaces that a mouse's optical lens doesn't play nice with.
Something to be said about that "microban antimicrobial protection" too...my wee one keeps nicking off with it and spilling stuff on it and it's holding up! Low profile. Heavy-ish and rubber with fabric covering - these are good things for a mouse pad, this is not one of those those annoying plastic-topped ones

Works nicely until it gets some hair on it, then the mouse goes haywire.
