Designed specifically for color decoration of film-covered models, Solartrim can be cut into various shapes, including lettering and insignia. The glossy finish not only enhances the visual appeal but also ensures that applied designs stand out sharply. For best results, it is recommended that the film be applied to smooth surfaces, as it does not adhere well to rough or textured finishes such as Solartex.

Recommended Model Applications

Solartrim is most effective when used on models with smooth surfaces, whether for creating bespoke color accents, identifying markings, or custom lettering. Its ability to be molded around wingtips and other contours, especially when gently heated and stretched, adds to its versatility, echoing the properties of Solarfilm itself. Models with textured surfaces, however, are not suitable for this film due to poorer adhesion.

Application Techniques

To use Solartrim, simply draw the desired shapes on the back of the support paper, then cut them out. Application can be done "dry"-by peeling off the paper and pressing the film onto the desired area-or "wet," by floating it onto the surface using soapy water, much like applying a water slide decal. The wet method is especially recommended for large or intricate shapes, as it allows for easier repositioning and fewer bubbles.
