Noise floor (coil whine) was far too high for my liking (returned for store credit).
PB sells others (some cheaper), that are cleaner sounding with better gain output too (ie: louder). What's unusual is that this boasts a 'noise reduction chipset', however I found it introduced additional noise. Disappointing because I liked it's other functions. Makes it super easy now being able to switch from headphones to speakers without having to unplug or plug in anything. No difference in sound input or output compared to using regular pc headphone and mic ports. I bought 2 x of these, and 1 failed within a couple of days. Sent back and Pbtech refunded, thanks. But its a shame companies don't focus on quality. Overall, very happy with this product. It does what it says it does and for me this was a useful cheaper alternative to getting the earphone socket on my laptop replaced by allowing me to use the USB socket instead. Sound quality is not brilliant though quite acceptable - but what do you expect at this price? If sound quality is important to you and you can afford it then you might want to look at alternatives but for a cheaper option this one is ideal. Overall, very happy with this product. Only downside is the dial bit is a little weak, after using it for a while the sound only comes through properly if it's held in the right position because it doesn't lay perfectly flat. As other reviews have said, the construction is perhaps a bit flimsy. So take care.

But works REMARKABLY well for connecting a simple electret microphone, as well as other microphones like Rode microphones that need power.

It even works using an OTG cable connecting to my iPhone via the Lightning port. So it can attach a microphone to an iPhone.

I was genuinely impressed, and bought another one. As other reviews have said, the construction is perhaps a bit flimsy. So take care.

Used to isolate 2 separate headphone outputs while using a mic. Does the job well, easy to setup. I have a ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 and a couple of days ago, the sound gave out. Windows 11 is installed. It turns out that this a relatively frequently occurring problem with this motherboard. Beware!

Anyway, this was easy to install. The motherboard doesn't have a lot of USB 2.0 ports so it was nice to see that it would work through a USB hub and then into the black 3.5mm socket on the adapter..

Without even having to reboot, sound was restored with the 2.1 analogue Sony sound system worked right away after selecting "Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)". Thumbs up.
