Had tried HDMI over Ethernet and active HDMI cables for a long run, but each had issues supporting 4K resolutions (compression artifacts or signal stability). Switching to optical resolved all these issues, and is even a thinner cable for easy cable runs. I'm always a bit sceptical regarding HDMI cabling but in this instance it was a true plug and play between a 4k camera and laptop via an HDMI-USB adaptor. Being a very thin cable it's impossible to say what the life expectancy or punishment capability is but so far it seem good value for money. Compared to the copper HDMI cable it replaced, this cable is half the diameter and much more flexible - and thus much easier to route around corners. This also means much lower force on the connectors. Works perfectly, though I've only run it at 1080p resolutions on an older HDMI 1.2 system. Because its so thin, its easy to tape down and not worry about people kicking it. Easy to wrap as well. Easy to store.
