I used this cable to connect an existing monitor to a graphics card with a DisplayPort output. The cable works just fine. However, it should be noted that connecting via DisplayPort can result in slightly different behaviour than DVI when more than one monitor is connected. Powering off the DP connected monitor results in a plug and play event, the operating system will respond by moving all the windows from that monitor to any other monitor that is still powered up. Excellent adaptor - has short cable length so you don't have all the weight of the adaptor on the display port.
Needed so can connect my slim HP docking station to 24" Samsung SA450 (older but still excellent HD screens w adjustable stand) which only have DVI & VGA connectors. Got a few of these very well priced adaptors.

Brought a new desktop pc but we have an existing DVI twin screen setup. The converter was the perfect solution to use the new machine HMDI output with an old DVI screen. Plug and play and it has no problem generating a rock steady signal for the much lower requirments of our screen. A much more cost effective solution than going out and buying a new LCD display. I have an old gaming PC and bought a new monitor. Could not get it to work, even with phoning for tech advice. Thought I'd try a different port with this cable and it now works! I got this to connect my ancient monitor to my new PC, and it works. Definitely measure how long you need the cord to be, it was only just long enough for my purposes because I forgot to take into account how the cable bends to fit into the monitor.
