The USB 2.0 spec section 6.4.4 specifically disallows A-A cables, however obviously they do have some practical uses. There are two "right ways" to wire them in practice, depending on the application: one is to leave VBUS disconnected, the other is to connect VBUS straight through.

The Dynamix C-U2AA-1 does an excellent job. I used it replace the original cable to connect the notebook cooler to my laptop. Great quality. And the price is low! I wasn't expecting the high quality, considering the price - a pleasant surprise. The cable functions perfectly, both for data transfer and for charging. PB Tech service was top notch too.
