I purchased this with the sole intention of making it work with a 2.1a input device and a 2.1a charger. It does this without issue. I have not tested with any other power inputs so your mileage may vary there, but the cable is well designed, tough as the name suggests and has a lot of strain relief near the connectors. This may be an issue for use with smart phones where a sleek design is preferred, but in terms of connecting this to a dock that I'm using, it's well designed for it. Have used for a couple of months and appears to be a very robust and good quality cable and at a good price. Easily plugs into my phone with the case on. Looking for a replacement phone cable, this was perfect not just the quality but also the price point. Obviously superior to the Samsung cable it was replaceing. I gave it up for it constantly disconnects or falls off from my phone's charging port, even with the slightest movement. I though it's my phone's port but when after I tried multiple cables, no problem at all.
