I purchased this 4TB drive as a replacement for 2TB drive that had started to error. The old drive was 7200 RPM, I haven't noticed any difference with the slower 4TB replacement, but it is only used for backups and archival (my main desktop drive being an SSD). It seems quite quiet in operation. It's supposed to be more energy efficient - a nice bonus. I purchased this 4TB drive as a replacement for 2TB drive that had started to error. I needed a larger drive for my old NAS (D-Link DNS-320L) so I could archive multimedia stuff mainly. Yes, the drive has SMR (Shingled magnetic recording) which is noticeably slower to write to than other Seagate drives, but if you're looking to just store heaps of stuff that doesn't change often it's not a problem. It is noticeably quieter than other drives too which is a nice bonus. Good value for money too. Thanks PB Tech! Now to my surprise, for this price, this HDD out performs itself. I have tested it, and I'm getting 229MB/s write, and 215MB/s reads, which is roughly half the speed of my SSD (551MB/s, 415MB/s). This HDD is a beauty, and such a low price. I would by this HDD 10 times out of 10, it's a steal at this price, and at these tests.

I've tested this with many benchmarks, all returning similar, if not the same speeds. The current range is on average, between 220MB/s - 240MB/s for writes, and between 200MB/s - 230MB/s for reads, so in the range of these values.
