Nice having a remote for the cast, I mostly use it you YouTube, the start screen/home page is just full of shows etc from other streaming services (that you need subscriptions to watch, Netflix etc) wish there was a way to turn off all that or set it to default straight into YouTube when turning on. Other than that, its a nice and pretty fast system to use. When your people told me that this product would not receive TVNZ+ I returned this product in exchange for the more expensive DishTV which I was told would receive that service but now it seems that the only difference between the two is that the Dish TV can receive Prime through the internet, which I did not need. So I haven't got this product any more but I wish I had because I got nothing useful from the exchange due to a misunderstanding. I upgraded from a first version Apple TV to this and WOW. It's intuitive, easy to use, and pairs well with my android phone. It's a massive upgrade from the old Apple TV that I had.

With Chromecast, you can cast stuff on your phone to your old TV. With Chromecast, you can cast stuff on your phone to your old TV.

I don't know why I stayed with Sky NZ for so long when you've got devices like this that are just 100% better & cheaper! Setup was easy & everything runs fast & smoothly. Only con is the remote, it's small & slippery & the volume buttons on the side is going to take some getting used to. Ok please be sure your android/apple device is new enough to run the software, thou this unit can be set up with remote only and then it just runs as a android/google TV. Being Google the apps will be pretty much the same as what you would expect from google play and it has access to its authorized google play apps as New Zealand Apps! (there are some exceptions as local developers are not as clued up as they should be) and if that fails you can stream to it.

Upgraded from a Chromecast Ultra to this new Google TV version, went with the HD version as I don't stream alot of 4k.

Great product, easy to use and setup. Turns an older TV into a smart TV, the remote is easy to use and a great addition.

Ended up buying a 2nd to use on our bedroom TV!

The remote is really simple to use and appears to be both wireless and IR, because the Chromecast is not visible at all from the front of the TV and yet it works perfectly, plus I was able to set up the TV itself to be controlled (turned on and off, turn the volume up and down) by the Chromecast remote - this TV is a Panasonic, you may have issues with this if you're using an off-brand TV like Veon from The Warehouse. Also as far as I can tell, you can't use the Chromecast remote to change brightness or other TV settings not mentioned above.

I was a bit disappointed that there is, as yet, no support here for Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming. I was able to sideload a version of the app for Android, but it didn't work at all so I uninstalled it. Also a bummer that there's no official browser support, meaning you can't even download Google Chrome.

I thoroughly recommend this for the bedroom especially, because it's cheap enough that you won't mind not using it every single day, and it's convenient for things like playing rain sounds to fall asleep to for example - I've done this several times now. You can set it to turn off the TV automatically after a period of inactivity, so there's no waking up in the middle of the night to the TV still blaring.

The Google Assistant integration here is very good. Being able to change the aircon temperature, or turn it off completely, with my voice using the Chromecast remote is pretty cool, and you can do it without turning the TV on. I'm excited to get more Google Assistant devices to see how well they all play together.

I love this, definitely a recommend despite its shortcomings.
