Wacom Intuos Bluetooth Medium - Black

My daughter started using it about 6 weeks ago and after taking a bit of time to adjust to the new size, absolutely love it. The medium is perfect size as she found the small well ... too small ;)

I often draw simple diagrams for teaching purposes. I also like to do simple diagrams and sketches on the board, I've almost always used Microsoft Paint which works well but is awkward when doing stuff which is not up/down left/right. Using the Wacom is quite a learning curve. Since you have to translate where the pen is on the screen it is not quite the same as drawing on a piece of paper. A definite learning curve. Also the pad has no easy way to align and connect lines so my sketches are a hybrid of pen, mouse, standard shapes and free hand. I'd say the pad is fine for strictly free ahnd stuff but not tyhat flash for technical diagrams. I haven't tried it for CAD yet.
Using the pad as a mouse is a pain. I find the pen buttons awkward but in default mode touching the surface is a left click so if you touch an icon on your screen while moving the pen it is immediately picked up and moved then when you lift off it gets dropped. Icons can easily end up lost inside other icons. Again a learning curve but less tolerant of mistakes.
Bluetooth connection was a fail with my older USB dongle. I had to upgrade it to get it to play nice with the Wacom

Finally got hold of someone via their facebook page who managed to help, but even then had to jump through hoops to register and download and install.. Only to find software not even free. Was issued with a serial to register for studio paint which I did, then it pops up with a message asking me to choose a monthly plan.. I thought surely thats wrong. Tried to use software now it won't let me use it unless I put in a serial. There was originally a message saying it was free for 2 years.. Been around and around in circles trying to sort this.. Surely it should be as simple as buying the tablet and being issued with the manufacturers free software to use it.. Apparently not. Im over it.. Wont ever touch their products again.
