The hard shell offers quite a bit of protection from accidental bumps. The quality is great as well. This is perfect for someone that goes to school, university or work (basically if you want your laptop to be protected while you are out and about). Yes this is a nice product, but it is way too large for my son's 14" chromebook which is disappointing as I assumed at the upper limit of the size advertised for it would be a nice snug fit. If using the chromebook with the case elastic bands on the screen, it is too loose and the case falls off the screen..
