This works really well once it is going and it is well priced. The installation is not at all straight forward though as the instructions it comes with are really poorly written. We had to use YouTube videos and a "Phone a Friend" to get this going. This works really well once it is going and it is well priced. I installed this to replace two wireless routers in an older house with very dense, signal blocking walls. It gives better coverage than the two routers combined. More effort to install but it has been running flawlessly for three weeks now. Install instructions are not great for someone not used to dealing with wireless access points and Ubiquity's UniFi system but there are several very helpful guides on You Tube that will walk you through the process. I am unsure if this was due to a firmware upgrade or not but the AP stopped receiving traffic. it was broadcasting but was not allowing clients onto the network. According to the official forums, this is a common hardware fault.

This did not stop me from purchasing another one and continuing to use the product - the value proposition completely outweighs the potential risk of buying another AP with the hardware fault.

Used for on a multi story house for about a month now,
placed the AP on the top floor and works perfectly on all floors,
no drop outs or dead spots

So easy to setup and works flawlessly.

I've tried three different options, the standard ISP router, The ASUS 86U and the AC Pro with a unifi setup. The former was not able to handle my smart home but this does it with ease. After months of things dropping out, low speeds etc I haven't had a single issue on unifi. The setup isn't the easiest but a few youtube videos and unifis chat service will get you going.

Despite the looks (fairly low profile) and glowing ring (doubles as a night light in the hall for the children) this is a great piece of kit.
I now have 2 UAP-AC-PROs power via PoE from a Unifi 8-150W Ubiquiti switch and EdgeRouter 4. Great management, especially once Unifi is installed/dongled (I'm running it in a jail in FreeNAS).
