Whilst no instruction with device to change the Extender to Access point mode, there is on-line. Works brilliantly. Now have full strength wi-fi with the ethernet plugged into it. The device needed some configuration and uses a difference SSID (AP's SSID plus _EXT) so devices needed to join the network using the new SSID. I had a D-Link range extended which needed no configuration at all and worked straight out of the box as soon as I plugged it into the power socket. Besides the slight hassle, it works fine. Used to enjoy full speed 1 gbps from ethernet connection but, upon moving houses, the router can only be configured on the 2nd floor. And my room above, hardly gets any signal, going as low as 990 kbps. Bought this thinking if I could use the built in ethernet port to connect my gigabit switch then just run the pcs with ethernet. And holy smokes, it works. Can get 300-400 stable connection plugged via ethernet and for wifi, full bars but just sitting around 80-120. Setting up the range extender is not much of a chore, the manual tells you everything you have to do to setup the range extender properly. Very easy to setup and boosted signal was awesome! Worked as advertised and one of the reasons I purchased this was because of the great reviews! The mobile app also made setup and configuration fairly straight-forward. LED lights on booster also very helpful to identify best place to put the booster in my house. Very easy to setup and boosts the signal without any problems. Mobile app helps to setup all in a few minutes. In addition, network led gives better indication if the original signal is too weak even if the mobile app shows that the connection is fine. Thanks to that was able to identify the best place to install the extender and use its full capabilities. Installed at the other part of the house (approx. 8m from the main router). You would expect a device that advertises an ethernet port and OneMesh connectivity to support a wired backhaul for OneMesh. This would allow for a more stable remote mesh connection, and would be a simple software feature. However this does not have this relatively basic functionality, allowing for a less stable wireless connection only. I'm sure it's fine if you just want to wirelessly extend your network, but it doesn't work for what I bought it for. Pretty easy to set up and boosts the signal well, set up as a regular extender but can be used as a mesh with the right kit. Recommend especially if on sale (I got mine open box).
