Tractive Mini GPS Cat Tracker - Subscription Required - Midnight Blue

I bought the Tractive gps for my cat who kept returning to our previous house. The battery lasts about 5 days, if you keep using the ap the battery will get flat quicker. It's quick to charge. I can easily pin point where he is and the route he takes. Love the virtual fence and the alerts when he leaves or enters the fence. I couldn't recommend this product more, it has taken the stress away, been using this product for about 3 weeks now. The subscription to use is expensive. It has an excellent interface, lots of features, and works really well, but once your cat gets outside the battery-saver "home" zone, it runs down pretty quickly - so if you're wanting to use it to find a lost pet, you basically only have one day to do it. If it had better battery life, it could have scored 5 stars. There are a lot of issues with this:

- Location is inconsistent. If you cat goes under the house - sorry, device won’t be able to locate it. If you cat goes under a tree - sorry, device won’t be able to locate it. We live semi rural, and it only really works when she is in an open space in the paddock - if she went over to the neighbours house the signal would not be strong enough to locate her. We consistently get the error message “connection is too weak”.

- Battery life is terrible. If you take it off battery saver mode, the battery goes down incredibly fast. We had it off for 10 minutes and the battery went from 100% to 87%. ...view more There are a lot of issues with this:

- Usability of the app is poor. It is really hard to take it off battery saver mode (the mode when the cat is close to your house, which doesn’t actually tell you where it is other than “near you”.

- Very pricy. You pay for the device, great. But then there is also a subscription, that’s fine. But if you don’t want to be paying +$20 a month they force you to lock in for a years subscription - I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

We ultimately bought this to ensure we could locate our cat and that she is safe - but it can’t even do that. My recommendation is save your money and get an Apple Airtag.

- Peace of mind - our cat got locked in both a storeroom (five days) and a garage (four days) in just six months. Next time we'll get to him before he's at death's door.

Our cat was a farm cat and he likes to roam. We live in an area in NZ where cats are going missing, daily. It's a nice compact size and he doesn't seem bothered wearing it. This tells us where he is and where he visits, when he returns to our house it goes into power save mode and he's findable by bluetooth, ALTHOUGH the bluetooth could be better, it only works if you're within 5ish metres - annoying when he's gone under the house or on the roof. App software does not work on either my iPhone 12 or 16. Tractive helpdesk apparently does not know what the issue is so I am sitting with a semi useless device that only has half the features advertised.

I love the tractive cat tracker. The battery is long lasting and the app is easy to use. The sound option on the device is an awesome tool for recall rather than yelling my cats name at the top of my lungs I have trained him to return hone when he hears the sound. It does look quite big and bulky but my cat doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I've attached a pic for reference but keep in mind I do have a larger cat (almost 6kg) so something to consider when buying for smaller cats.

This tracker is accurate and reliable. Exactly what I wanted! Gives me peace of mind knowing where my cat is, easy to use app, tracks her fitness even.
