Creality CR-Scan Raptor 3D Scanner

We've had mixed results with Creality Raptor Scanner.
Yes, its far better than the 3DMakerPro Mole scanner we used previously. But the scanning software is a let down, as its no better.
It has a relatively high price for consumer level scanners. So expectations are higher.
It delivers on some of those raised expectations, and disappoints for others.
1. It produces a result faster, most of the time. The scan combine tool however lets down the side somewhat. Although its better and easier to use than the 3dmaker pro product it slill lacks sufficient control to make a good scan result.

1. It produces a result faster, most of the time. The scan combine tool however lets down the side somewhat. Although its better and easier to use than the 3dmaker pro product it slill lacks sufficient control to make a good scan result.
2. the blue laser light scanner produces far better results, with a finer surface, but it lacks the ability to scan inside of holes and small crevices in a model.
3. By default, the mesh output lacks sophistication. Ideal would be if it could produce STEP files. It produces PLY files by default, which cannot be used by any of my modelling of slicing software. The number of mesh points produced in the files are far too many, Fusion 360 has a limit of around 50,000, but the scanner produces files containing 8 million.
4. The model editing tool has no innovation when compared to other products. It should (but does not) heal a hole in the model produced by deletion of poorly scanned surface features.
5. The scan combine tool has a black background, with no grid to provide perspective. The grid is an essential feature that needs to be added.
6. Real world models have black surfaces, shiny surfaces etc. The Creality Raptor scanner needs scanning dots to attain scanning accuracy, but only a limited supply is provided. The scanning dots cannot be used in conjunction with scanning spray used to deal with Black shiny surfaces. The retails (upon request) has stocked scanning dots, but they are expensive. The scanning dots provided have glue thats not eaily removed from the model, on one, I found it took paint off the surface. There needs to be a better way to obtain the reference points needed for accurate scanning.
