I would usually skimp on the power supply for a Pi3 when used on it's own without peripherals and maybe underclock to avoid insufficient power errors. However, when using the Pi 3 as a brain for Klipper, I decided to get the official supply to ensure there would be enough for the peripherals and reliable printing behavior. As expected, the official supply handles everything well. I was using a lower voltage power supply originally and was getting messages in the log about low voltage. Purchased this, plugged it in, and it works perfectly. No more warnings for me. Loses a star though for the design of the wall outlet plug, the design of it it awful. It's weirdly wide, making it difficult to plug in next to other devices on a powerboard. Much much better than any generic 5w usb micro power supply. Having switch to the official power supply the improvements in stability have meant zero issues with current draw and my pi is stable and happy. This power supply seems to be more stable than the generic usb power supply I had been using. It has resolved the random crashes and my Pi is now running stable and reliably.
