Discovered during a recent power outage, that the existing UPS devices onsite had failed, we lost some vital data entered since saving. Ordered the new UPS from PB Tech and they were here overnight. I'm on to my third unit after the first two exhibited the same issue. Every few days I'd get a notification that the UPS has lost connection from the Synology NAS. Which means I'm unprotected in a power cut and my NAS won't get powered down appropriately. Dynamix hasn't provided any meaningful help other than replace the unit and hope for the best.

The product works when it functions correctly. But having owned a couple of replacements, they all exhibit the same disconnection problem. AVOID AT ALL COST! Wanted a UPS to allow my Sinology DS220+ to shut down properly in the advent of a power failure. Defender worked exactly as it should during a recent power cut and was very easy to set-up. Would give it five stars but are getting a number of "DS220+ errors has lost the connection to the UPS" - a little research indicates it could be a problem with the box, so may have to be exchanged....... I then requested a credit and bought a CyberPower Value Pro 1000VA instead, which cost a bit more but has been rock solid so far. My NAS now also shows the estimated runtime for the UPS's battery, which the Dynamix never did.

I now see another reviewer found a workaround for the USB issue, but I personally wouldn't be happy scheduling a restart of the NAS's UPS daemon every 15 minutes. That's pretty bad if you have to do that.
I'm so very thankful for PB Tech's after sales support. I've now got the right UPS for the job.

This is an awesome product and at its price point I don't think you would get better results.
We live rurally and the power goes off at least once a month and UPS has not let us down at all.

Lasted little more than 1 year before occasionally making a high pitched whining sound and cutting output power. eventually got worse and now barely older then 2 years, no longer works at all. searching online forums have revealed that failures are common with this brand. One of the problems of having a NAS is if you have a power cut and it is shut down, this can create problems with the files in the NAS. This UPS connects to the NAS, in my case DS112+ and gives instructions to shut down so that when power runs out a the UPS, it will have shut down legally before so. Got this as power protection for a Synology NAS. Easy to set up. It will give about 25 minutes cover for NAS and on power strip a TV, sound bar, android TV box, router and Chorus ONT.
