It's a simple concept. Having an app to control the color, brightness, and much more is convenient. It's not a bad product whatsoever, I recommend it for your man cave. It's a simple concept. I actually thought I was purchasing a normal RGB bulb. When I discovered it worked through an app and it was easy to program I was pleasantly surprised. Easy to figure out and lots of features. The app's automatic connection never works. Had to find how to do manual AP mode connection, which is not written in the manual, but from a random Reddit post.

You have to turn the light ON-OFF-ON until it starts to slow blink. Then connect to one of light's wifi hotspot often named "SmartLight-XXXX" and use app's AP mode connection to connect. But you can only do this one device at a time, so if you have multiple lights, well get a chair and screw, unscrew the bulb until it enter pairing mode, ridiculous. Even this took solid 40~ 50 minutes. Guess what if you accidentally turn the light switch off, you lose connection, and have to repeat this. Don't waste your precious time on these.

Worked well for a year with schedules and Alexa control. Now I have to reconnect to wifi every few weeks. Pretty frustrating. Very limited wifi support, have to change to wpa and not the default wpa2 that most routers are configured for. On the look out to replace the three I have. It’s a good bulb but the colours (besides red, blue and white) are poor. To get better colour, the brightness needs to be adjusted to below 50%.

I have two of these plus a E14 one and works so good only need one app to control them. With a bit of extra steps to first get Brilliant smarts own App then to link that to amazon Alexa. Voice control finally worked.
