We've got a 2018 Nissan Leaf, and Android Auto has never quite worked properly, despite using cables that work fine for Android Auto in our other vehicle (2022 Outlander) - including cables from the phone manufacturer. The connection would always drop out within about 10mins of driving, I'd unplug it and then plug it back in, and it would work for 5-10mins again before dropping out - I chalked it up to a weird headunit issue with my car, and just resorted to bluetooth for years of driving.

I came across a suggestion that a chunky USB3.1 cable such as this would help with my issue, and it did! I won't say that it completely eliminated the dropouts, as I still get them every once and a while, but quickly unplugging/plugging it back in solves it within 10secs, and it doesn't reoccur like it used to. I've driven probably 80+ hours with this cable for Android Auto, and it has disconnected on maybe 2 or 3 occasions which I think is acceptable. I would've preferred a shorter cable than the one I got (2m) but there were no shorter ones in stock.

I recommend this cable if you find yourself in a similar niche group!

Works fine, but chunky black plug is so square, it only allows the metal part of the charger to fit into some devides. Not all USB-C items can be charged with this cable. It's also a very fatcable, so better for charging items you don't move much, and is not a cable for on the go. It was way shorter than I was expecting. I thought the cable itself would be 20cm long, but the length actually seems to include both ends. Because of that it wasn't suitable for the purpose I bought it for, which was using my drawing tablet while sitting at my desk. It's only useful for plugging things in that need absolutely no distance between the port and the nearest surface. It was way shorter than I was expecting. I needed this to connect my iPhone (with USB-C port) to my car's Apple CarPlay wired connection (USB-A) and so it needed to support data transfer not just charging. Apple CarPlay now works perfectly.
