As well as being able to power devices on and off by wifi you can do it on schedule and remotely. Interfaces with Home Assistant easily. With the Tapo app you can input your power rates, peak and off peak, it will tell you how much your device is costing. Very easy to set up the app and use continuous monitoring - you can enter in a $/KwH cost and it will estimate your monthly expenses for the device/powerpoint. Also great ability to remotely toggle power on and off.

Given we now get a 20% discount on our electricity usage between 9pm and 7am, I wanted a smart plug to control charging our EV in the garage. I’ve got it currently setup to only automatically charge one night a week but may add another night. I like how it also records the actual kWh and the cost too. That should allow me to calculate the efficiency of the charging system. It lets me turn on and off whatever I plug into it remotely which is a big part of why I purchased it. The power monitoring while nice could be better. The unit is compact and discreet, it has good connectivity and compatibility. I registered for TP Link’s Tappo Service, then connected to Samsung Smart things so I can measure the electrical usage with all my other devices. Despite using it only with a low-power LED light, the device gets warmer than I would expect.

I bought this to monitor my home office equipment in particular. From what I discovered I have now customised my PC's power settings save me at my power bill level.
