I decided to separate the solar panel from the camera, and that was a simple process too.
The battery is constantly at 100% thanks to solar...
No issues connecting to wifi, or installing the app.
In fact, a totally user friendly process, and the SD card I chose to purchase means no ongoing subs - the recordings are all stored in the device, accessible via my app... and it writes over the oldest recording when the card is full. A month downtrack, it's not yet full. Easy to set up - clear instructions.

Happy with the camera and solar panel. I found camera always stay at 100 percent battery level. Rarely get false notifications, always detect humans or pets and update at same time. Only thing is video length is small sometimes when we watch it later on after getting notification but everything else is good. Recommend this item. Camera video quality is good. Not a big deal if you don't need it, but I was expecting it to have it since other Tapo products do. I'm currently playing around with settings and installation location to try and balance out the solar charging capability with how quickly the battery is draining. it works perfectly outside where it has not any power supply. It charges its battery into cloudy weather well. It takes nice and sharpe movies and it can be set very well and easily. So impressed with the price of this and the quality and feature set. Bought microSD which rules out the need to pay for any subscription. Really simple to set up both physically and the app itself.
