I upgraded from a i7-13700K, which was running perfectly, but I wanted to stick with Intel for another generation.
Instal was painless, my non QVL list DDR5 works great at 6000MTs.
It's not a huge increase in performance, but it's pretty good considering it is a cheaper processor, it's not going to top an X3D in gaming, but it's no slouch, and the cheaper motherboard options. less fussy memory ceiling and performance in non gaming application make it a good deal for me. The ai acceleration or NPU needs 10+ applications, drivers, repositories just to realise that it only works with certain quants, minimal layers, basically better off using the cpu offload is better as the npu and igpu fight for bandwidth with the cpu any way, don’t spend days trying to utilise the advertised ai boost as their software integration hasn’t been developed that well and even when you do get it to work, it’s absolutely dissatisfying, treat it like a normal gaming CPU and it’s great but don’t fall for the ai marketing hype.
