Worked first time. Only problem is that it is zoned so you get 5 goes at zone free and then it locks to the last one used. I don't know why some manufacturers still do this. There are so many zone free devices around that the idea of protection is well and truly lost. I wanted it for my laptop so I could travel and watch DVDs in transit etc, but with the restriction I will only be able to take DVDs from zone 4. If I was purchasing again I would not get this unit because of the zoning. Otherwise a good unit and easy to use. Worked first time. The instructions however fail to inform you that computers that do not have an in-built DVD drive invariably do not have the software to play DVD's either (this has surprisingly been removed from Windows 10). You should not therefore be concerned when little happens once it is attached to your computer. Remedy the situation by simply downloading an appropriate program. Most reviews suggest avoiding the one available for purchase from the MS App store. VLC Media Player however is free, robust and works very well. Simple but effective player of DVD's and CD's. Only used half a dozen times - works well. The cable is a bit short at 500mm. The disc tray seems quite flimsy - don't know how long that will last. Style wise it’s pretty nice and it works well. It does it’s job but does sound a bit noisy. I think it is a bit clunky to use but most DVD players are so I’m not that worried about that. Pretty light and cheaply, but seems to do the job well. Plugged into PC (Windows 10) and that was it - very easy to install. A bit noisy and clunky, but that may be typical of external DVD drives.
