I edit and store video files professionally ... thus the files are huge (especially 4K) and I have purchased 5 of these drives from PB Tech ... Why?
They are reliable, secure and reasonably fast, (USB -C) and durable as well ..... Sure SD drives may one day replace these but for now.
every 5TB of footage I film also needs to be backed up with an additional 5TB of the same footage. We have all, lost footage when drivers fail.

Thus every I keep turning back to these 5TB drives .

This product is perfect for the use it will be put too. Sturdy construction in an environment that would seriously test other not so well built units. Good write throughput, and shock casing. The protective bumper only goes around the edges, not in the middle, so you do need to be careful about side impacts.

I had a 250GB Lacie rugged portable HD that I bought some years ago and still continues to run well. This 4TB model looks very similar and is similarly robust while having a much higher capacity. Pros:
Exactly what I expected.
Fast USB-C read and write speeds!
I edit 1080p video projects directly from this HDD without a problem and on the occasion I edit 4K video as well (proxy editing).

Cons:
The bigger the project obviously it will slow down a little but proxy editing solves this.
SSD would still be a much better option but for the price and the amount of space, this is definitely worth investing in unless you are getting into 4K video projects.

I've been working on 1080p video projects with the occasional 4K footage and I am able to surprisingly edit directly off the HDD without much problems. Does strain a little with 4K especially big projects but nothing proxy editing can't fix.
