Long term they've been terrible
Bought 3 of these in 2023. 11 Months with no troubles then one failed SMART tests and developed bad sectors. Transferred the data to the second drive so I could return this under warranty - as the drive filled up, it uncovered bad sectors on that drive too... which then failed SMART after that. Returned the first drive and was issued a credit, used the credit to purchase an Ironwolf 12TB disk... Drive was dead on arrival, wouldn't spin up and wouldn't detect. Tried the drive in every socket of the NAS, made no difference so that's heading back now as well. I've noticed all of the drives, including the DOA drive that just arrived were made...view more
Good speed but warm and noisy.
Easily does 200-250 MB/s transfer speed but a couple of things:
1) As someone else said, it runs a bit warm. With no fan on it, it slowly crept up to 50 degrees. Not the worst in the world but if you want a long life make sure there is some airflow going over it.
2) High speed mechanical drive = noise. Expect more noise around, especially if you put it in a PC (like I did) that sits nearby. Not super loud but definitely adds a couple of Decibels to the room. I ended up selling it and went for an SSD instead.

Great Nas Drive
I think the title says it all really. It is a great drive for the NAS and it performs exactly as expected. I cant really say much more than i totally recommend it
Fantastic value
Amazing how cheap storage has become. I paired this with an Orico 3.5" HDD enclosure, and it works great! I have it plugged into an Apple Airport Extreme router and use it to back up multiple Macs with Time Machine. The bottleneck is with the Airport Extreme being only USB2.0, but that has nothing to do with this drive. I'll probably buy one of these again once the initial 10TB of storage runs out.
