It's about as noisy as a vacuum cleaner on max, as it sucks on the window. If following the recommendation, to first dry-clean, change cloth and then wet clean, my windows were nice and clean. Initially on the dirty outside windows, it pushed a bit of dust to the edges, I've wiped the edges manually to speed up the process. I think if doing dry-wet-dry and changing the cloth each time, it will result in a perfect clean. I only did dry-wet and am very satisfied. The initial dry clean on the outside is already satisfying. This a brand new type of product, so I am sure it will improve a lot in the coming years, but it certainly does a great job already. A must have to clean windows that can't be easily reached. I live on the 4th floor and couldn't clean the outside of my windows otherwise.

You'll want to be aware of some limitations:
Bright sunlight is a problem when cleaning inside,
It certainly can't get the corners but you'll also want to wipe where you take it off the window.
Two cleanings will be needed, the second with a clean pad. The pads have become too thin to use and I haven't done the house once yet! Once a little thinner, the plastic corners rub heavily on the glass and make a squeaky sound. Not good.
The power-on beep sounds very cheap but the voice is clear, though too loud for us.

During a power cut (had one yesterday) the unit remains attached but will not let you use the remote to move it to where you can take it off. In my case it sat there way up high demanding to be plugged in. All I could do was to pull it off from below and catch it. Pretty dumb.
The fill bottle is stupidly slow, but is the correct volume. Use a funnel.
For some reason, it cleans the right hand edge pretty well but leaves about 2cm the the left.
Although it tries to learn the dimensions, the spraying is dumb and sprays the wall, last window or thin air pretty often.
We still need a ladder and cleaning cloth on hand, but it is fast and easy.

If you are an English speaker, can you explain the instructions to me? Yeah! I read the Japanese and got the idea.

All in all, some small modifications would make it 100% but it does work, mainly.

So when you try to cram more in, the only place to go is up... and that brings with it some home maintenance issues, such as cleaning the outside of the upper floor windows. Not too difficult if you have 1 or 2 storeys to deal with, but what if you live in an apartment complex, your windows are 3 or more floors above the ground, and it's your responsibility to keep them clean?

That's where the HUTT W8 could be useful - designed to cling to the glass and clean it in simple lateral stripes, this little automated cleaner isn't the brightest spark in the toolbox, but it beats hanging from a rope harness or perched in a cherrypicker. It does require a mains power connection, but comes with a generous power cord in three parts - the robot's tether, the power adaptor and the 2-pin 'stereo cord' power cable for NZ.

To protect against it falling onto someone walking below, the designers added a low-stretch bungee with a simple carabiner clip as a safety line. However, having this at the end of a long power cable effectively means that it fails on two key metrics: it fails to protect the robot from being damaged by a long fall against the side of the building, and it is quite redundant on single-storey buildings - the robot will hit the floor well before the tether is under any tension. It might have been more effective if attached directly to the robot. However, this bot doesn't fall easily - I had to put in some real effort to pull it off the window mid-cleaning cycle.

While the robot should start at any point on the window and map a route, I did find it seemed to assume it was starting at the top of a pane and was slow to figure out it was at the bottom and needed to move up the glass instead. That aside, it does a fairly good job of the majority of the glass. I tested it on various sized panes, and as long as I started it at the top-left corner, it did a tolerable job on small windows and a good job on large ones. Corners were not touched, and the edges were a bit hit'n'miss - you will need to do a bit of tidy-up work if you want a proper job.

Overall, while it will be very handy for those upon-high, those who live closer to the ground might find it more of a novelty than a saviour. It can't cross frames, so it's still very much a manual 1-by-1 process. Most effective when used on vast sweeping single-pane windows above the 1st floor.

PRO:
- Can be manually driven for localised tough-grime spots.
- Makes cleaning multi-storey houses a lot less dangerous.
- Also works on other large, smooth surfaces such as marble and large tiles.
CON:
- Depending on the style of your window frame, corners and edges may need a manual cleaning afterwards.
- Safety rope should be attached closer to the robot to protect it as well.
