Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless Multi-System Gaming Headset for PC & Playstation

Having owned multiple Steelseries Wireless headsets, my advice to you is don't.. You know, if you value the opinions of strangers on the internet.

The audio quality is good, however the charging unit is HORRIBLE. All 3 headsets over multiple years I have owned starting the Wireless H, have the exact same problem. The DAC will frequently stop charging the battery unless you pay attention when you put it in and give it a jiggle or take it out and pop it back in several times.. The DAC will frequently stop charging the battery unless you pay attention when you put it in and give it a jiggle or take it out and pop it back in several times.. If you're in a rush when you swap them out and just trust in it to work, this will be when it doesn't bother to charge, and you find out when you need to swap the battery out and find that now you have 2 dead batteries. Totally unacceptable for the price point of this headset, so save yourself the frustration and disappointment and go for a different brand (Corsair or Logitech are half the price for more reliability).

I was using the Arctis Pro Wireless prior to the Nova Pro, and the reason I switched was that the Pro Wireless started falling apart - among other issues I was having. While I'd say it's too early for me to give an accurate review of the Nova Pro wireless, so far I'm happy with the purchase. In addition, when I initially received the Nova Pro, one of the batteries was completely dead, it would not charge. Thankfully PBTech was able to replace the battery and that issue was resolved, but it made me concerned about fully discharging the battery. The microphone quality on the Nova Pro is a step down from the Pro Wireless, requiring more fiddling with audio settings to get it to sound remotely decent. And finally - arguably the biggest downside - the Nova Pro REQUIRES the Steelseries Sonar Engine to use the game/chat mix. The Pro Wireless could do that on its own, but the Nova Pro cannot. I use an external audio mixer, needing to route audio through Steelseries Sonar adds a completely unnecessary layer of complexity to my audio settings.

Great sound, but 1 battery didn't work out of the box and required a visit to local store to replace. Also I couldn't get wireless to work - finger trouble by me, but still irritating. Tech help in store fixed it & showed me my problem so good on them.

The first headset was faulty but this was quickly rectified with a swap at the store. PBTech staff were very helpful and fast to sort it out.

Now that I have had this headset for 18 months, it has become the benchmark that I will use for any other headset purchase. I use it daily attached to my laptop for my WFH job as well as in the evenings for gaming on my Gaming Rig. It seamlessly switches from one to the other line without any manual intervention. The Bluetooth connection 'just works' with my Android phone so that I can take calls using the headset at the same time as it's connected to the PC. Now to the most important bit. The mic is crisp and clear; others on calls have complemented the clarity. The mic boom seems at first use a little flimsy but it has stood up to a lot over the past 18 months and is still working well. The sound is not as 'bassy' as some other headsets that I have listened to but is perfect for gaming and working. I am no audiophile but I like it.

I don't use the SteelSeries apps as I have had issues with them crashing and doing weird things with the Windows Audio settings in the past but that may be fixed now. Windows installs the relevant drivers to get the system running with out the apps and settings on the base station are complete so everything I need is on there.

In conclusion, a perfect headset for my needs!!
