Yealink BH74 Bluetooth On-Ear ANC Headset with Charging Stand - Teams Certified

I really wanted the Jabra Evolve2 55 or the 65 Flex but they were notably more, especially if you want the charging stand to go with them. So, when Yealink released these the other month (and they were actually in stock at PB Tech, unlike other online retailers) I decided to give them a go for my work-from-home office.

Worked well out of the box. Simple set up, I'm using the included USB bluetooth dongle to connect to my laptop (in fact, I've wedged it in the back of my Samsung monitor's USB hub and it nicely switches between a mini-PC on the other input), and it has been flawless. Always connects for me without issue, so not sure what the difference is to what the other reviewer was experiencing there. Sound quality for me at my end is good, I have no idea if the sound quality coming from my mic for the other meeting participants is similar however! But not had any complaints as yet.

Battery life is decent, seeing about 10% used every 5 hours, so you should hopefully get a working week out of them.

Yealink USB app was easy enough to install and get the latest firmware on to the headset and dongle, can be either PC or mobile app. More importantly, you don't need to install any software to use them with Microsoft Teams meaning I could use them with the work laptop without requiring admin privileges to install any supporting software.

Pros:
- Comfy enough, especially now I'm stretching the headband out a bit (was a little tight at first causing a slight pressure headache in the afternoon)
- Decent crisp sound, has a bit of bass boom there when listening to music on YouTube etc.
- Flip mic up and down to mute/unmute works well
- Loving not being tethered by a stupid cable
- Charging stand helps keep the desk tidy and the headphones always charged up and ready to go

Cons:
- The earpads are replaceable when they get manky, just an easy rotation to get them off. But unfortunately, a little too easy and I find they occasionally fall out unintentionally, usually when docking on the charging stand. Easy enough to twist back in place though.
- I've got bigger hands, so I find the little buttons grouped together for volume up/down etc are difficult to use.

Was easy to set up, and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Noise cancelling is good.
We are learning we have to make sure they are working correctly when you log on in the morning first thing, before you try taking calls on it as sometimes the sound doesn't work even when it's on. (have to switch to a different speaker & then back again).
Also been having some issues with the mic too - when you take a call and they can't hear you and have to restart the PC to get it working again. Not exactly a time-saver in this regard, but other areas make up for it. Was easy to set up, and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Noise cancelling is good.
