Supermicro PCIe 3.0 x8 Add-On Card for up to two NVMe SSDs

A terrific product in principle, but beware - it will only work with motherboards whose BIOS permits bifurcation of the PCI-E slot. If yours doesn't, then Windows will still recognise one of the drives, but not both - which could leave you (like me) with an extra NVMe drive that's no use to you :-(. I'm running five of these cards across two machines with no complaints at all. I don't think the lower rating from some other reviewers is warranted but it may be useful for PB Tech to update the description to include something like 'PCIe bifurcation support is required in order for two NVMe SSDs to be detected. Consult your motherboard manufacturer if you're unsure.' Note that when running multiple cards in certain systems, you may need to adjust the jumpers on the cards to allocate individual IDs. Great product, as long your MOBO supports pcie bifurcation. Than you might have to change jumpers on card itself etc.

Bought this because it looked like an amazingly useful product - to go with it I also purchased two 500Gb Firecuda NVMe drives. Unfortunately I've been completely unable to get my machine to recognise more than one of the slots on the card - it will recognise both drives individually (if I swap them over) but never both together (the inboard one seems to be the one that's problematic; both the SSDs are fine. It could just be a faulty unit but I can't find that out until Auckland comes out of its Level 4.
