Late War Armor
By the end of WWII, the Pz.Kpfw.IV was starting to show its age as it was confronted by newer Allied armor; one of the solutions for the German forces was the Panzer IV/70(A), which gave it improved firepower. To keep development times short, the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J chassis was used, and paired with the L/70 7.5cm gun, which had enough firepower to take care of Allied contemporaries; a modified version of the Jagdpanzer IV/70(V) Lang turret was used to accomodate the longer piece. Around 270 were manufactured between August 1944 and March 1945, and put to work on both the Western and Eastern Fronts, and the Panzer IV/70(A) continued to provide valuable firepower even as the Allies pushed relentlessly toward victory.
- This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 242mm, width: 98mm.
- The powerful form featuring a fighting compartment with L/70 7.5cm gun is captured in style, based upon extensive research.
- The model features realistic depictions of surface textures such as the cast gun shield and rolled steel fighting compartment walls.
- Gun motion includes traverse and elevation. Traverse is accompanied by motion of the sight.
- Commander and loader hatches can be opened.
- Assembly type tracks feature one-piece straight sections.
- Photo-etched parts depict mesh Schurzen shields.
- Comes with a commander torso figure and two marking options.
The powerful form of this "tank killer" is captured with aplomb in 1/35 scale.
Mesh Schurzen armor plates are split into 3 sections, with a secure system of attachment to the model.
Here is a look at the large photo-etched parts used to recreate the Schurzen armor plates.
A commander torso figure is in realistic pose. The hatch can be opened after completion of the model.
Assembly type depictions of the lightweight tracks feature crisp molding detail.
Multiple separate parts for engine room-top accessories lend the model even greater realism.
Highlights at the front include the cast metal texture, weld lines, and a moving gun travel lock.
