1/100 - British Infantry Tank

The Zvezda 1/100 scale model kit represents the Valentine Mk. II Infantry Tank, a key British armored vehicle used extensively during World War II. This version of the Valentine tank was armed with the reliable QF-2 pounder (40mm) gun and had heavy armor for its class. Although relatively slow and lightly armed compared to later tanks, it was known for its reliability and was well-regarded by both British and Soviet forces.

Originally introduced in 1940, the Valentine became one of the most produced British tanks of the war, with over 8,000 units manufactured through various marks until 1944. It was widely used in the North African campaign by British forces, providing solid performance in desert warfare conditions.

The Valentine also played an important role on the Eastern Front. Under the Lend-Lease Treaty, more than 3,000 Valentine tanks, including Mk. II versions, were shipped to the Soviet Union starting in 1941. These were transported via Arctic convoys and provided immediate armored reinforcement during some of the most critical moments of the war.

Soviet forces first used these tanks in combat in late November 1941. Despite some initial reservations about its firepower, the Valentine was appreciated for its durability and ease of maintenance. Remarkably, Soviet "Valentines" remained in service until the end of the war, with their final action taking place against the Japanese in Manchuria in 1945.

This Zvezda kit is part of the Art of Tactic game system and is designed with snap-fit assembly, requiring no glue, making it ideal for both collectors and wargamers.
